Give your child the opportunity to shine
Choosing your child's primary school is a big decision. At St Mary & St Michael's, we offer a warm, caring Catholic community where children are encouraged to learn, grow in confidence and develop into compassionate young people.
More than a school. A community where every child can shine.
We know that choosing a school is about much more than finding a place. You want to know that your child will be happy, safe, supported and inspired to achieve their very best.
At St Mary & St Michael's, Christ is at the centre of everything we do. We believe in creating a warm, welcoming environment where children are valued for their uniqueness, encouraged to respect and care for others and given the opportunity to discover their own strengths.
We work closely with parents and our parish community because we believe that education works best when school and home work together.

A warm family community
We see our school as a family. Children, staff, parents, parish and the wider community work together to create a welcoming environment where everyone belongs.
Learning with high aspirations
We want every child to have the very best academic start. Our dedicated staff inspire a love of learning while helping children develop academically, socially and personally.
Faith at the heart
As a Catholic school, we nurture children's faith and help them grow through prayer, worship, Gospel values and our close links with the parish.
Values that shape everyday life
Our values of uniqueness, service, care and compassion, acceptance, respect and forgiveness are lived throughout school life.
A rich experience beyond the classroom
Alongside academic learning, children benefit from creative, environmental, spiritual, social and enrichment opportunities that help them develop as individuals.
A school with a remarkable history
Our school has stood on its present site for more than 160 years, with generations of local families sharing memories of their time here.
What our children and families say
“This is a happy and welcoming school. According to pupils, everyone ‘fits in’ and gets along well with each other. Pupils feel safe and enjoy coming to school.
“We feel very lucky that our child attends such a wonderful school!
“We love coming to school each morning. We are encouraged to use our manners, share, smile and learn. We feel safe.
The best way to get to know our school is to visit.
We warmly welcome prospective families to come and see St Mary & St Michael's for themselves.
A visit gives you the chance to meet our staff, see our children learning and ask the questions that matter to your family. Mrs Dodd will be happy to show you around and talk through anything you would like to know.
If an after-school visit is more convenient, we can arrange this too.
